The Action Track Chair- The Eagle

The Action Track Chair- The Eagle is an All-Terrain power wheelchair that is FDA cleared. The chair will go up to 3 MPH for up to 7 miles. It has a zero point turning radius, and the seat will tilt forward and backward. Additional accessories available for purchase include: four-point harness, head rest, transfer handle, toggle switch, goal post joystick, front wheel kit, lateral leg supports, lateral side supports, flip up footrests, attendant control, oxygen tank holder, 9" seat belt extension, 4" offset extension plate, and hunting mounts/accessories.

The action track chair requires the trackchair carrier: class IV 2" receiver hitch mount with fold down ramps for loading and unloading

Pros

Handle hiking trails that most wheelchairs will not depending on comfort of rider, optional attendant control, power chair increases accessibility to nature


Cons

Heavy, expensive, hard to transport especially if battery dies on trail, not originally a wheelchair company and is just starting to have adaptive seating, depending on weight of rider battery life is from 3-8 miles, excessive exposure to moisture could ruin the battery, power chair decreases independence for manual wheelchair users, will not fit through standard doorways.


Maintenance: 

Requires mechanic to remove tracks and clean yearly


Transfers: 

Lift systems are recommended for organizations assisting with transfers depending on the users ability to transfer independently.

- Bald Mountain Recreation Area, Belle Isle park, Grand Haven State Park, Holland State Park, Iona, Island Lake Recreation Area, Ludington State Park, Maybury State Park, Muskegon State Park, Tahquamenon Falls State Park, and the Waterloo Recreation Area.

- Cost: free, Reservations: call the park you plan on visiting to reserve, some parks offer track chairs year-round while others off them in the summer of for beach-use
